The New Rods section has been updated
Good Morning,
Here is hoping you and your family are well. Sandy and I are both boostered and doing well with no virus infections so far. We avoided a couple of close calls over Christmas by staying home rather than visiting family where both our daughter and her daughter were infected Christmas eve and our son and his daughter several days later. They all have recovered with no apparent lasting effects.
Now to the rod building.
It been a year of contrasts. I finished a 9’0” 3-piece scalloped hollow built for a 2/3 weight this fall. Took it for a lawn test where I liked the 2 weight better. However, as the rod was designed for the European method of nymphing where a extremely heavy nymph is lobbed rather than cast, lines are rarely out of the rod enough bend the rod. I was hoping to test run it on flowing water but the great fall fishing on lakes and ponds got in the way. Also, on the bench are a number of rods. This include a 6’0” 3 piece 2 weight, a 7’0” 2 piece 3 weight, a 7’6” 3 piece 4 weight and a 8’0” 3 piece 4 weight. Three of the 4 are scalloped hollow build design. All will be available for sale within the next several months. And to that line up, I intend to add a 7’9” 3 weight.
